Illustrated Craft Tutorial - Christmas Lantern Tutorial
This project is recommended for ages 12 and up.

Christmas Lantern Tutorial 1
1. Cut four cardstock squares to the size of 12 x 12 cm and 1 cardstock square to the size of 13x13 cm (this is the bottom).
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 2 2. On the bottom piece, score an 1 cm line on all sides and fold these sides up.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 3 3. On each of the other pieces, score 1 cm of one side and fold this side up.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 4 4. Afterwards, take your tree template and trace and cut a tree on each of the 4 side pieces.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 6 5. Now you need to cut 4 sqares smaller than the 4 side squares out of the vellum paper and glue these to the inside (with the 1 cm side piece up).
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 7 6. Take the bottom piece and place a line of glue on the flap of one side. Stick now this piece to one of side pieces. Make sure that the flap sections are always on the inside.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 8 7.This is how it looks once the first wall has been added.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 9 8. Now add the next side piece. Since it will now be joining at 2 points, you will need to place glue on the bottom flap as well as a side flap. Use paper clips at any point to hold pieces together if they do not stay.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 10 9. This is how it looks on the bottom inside of the box. You see that all of the flaps are visible on the inside. Continue adding the side walls until the lantern is complete.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 12 10. Cut four 3 x 12 cm pieces and score a line down the center lengthwise of each piece.
Christmas Lantern Tutorial 13 11. Now add the next side piece. Glue these strips now over the 4 corners of the lantern. Punch a hole at the top of each side (a total of 8 holes).

Christmas Lantern Tutorial 14
12. Use an eyelet to decorate each hole. Take some gold wire (about 20 cm length) and wrap it tightly around a pencil or another object to form a spiral. Connect each of the 2 ends in 2 holes diagonal from each other of the lantern. This looks decorative and the lantern can be hung as well
